Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Specialist
Crown Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, a 200 bed Skilled Nursing Facility which offers short-term rehab and long-term skilled nursing services in Cortland, NY is looking for a full time Clinical Educator/In-Service Coordinator.
Position Summary:
Provides standardized training programs for staff to enhance quality of care provided. Training ensures adherence to company policies and procedures and compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Collaborates with the core interdisciplinary team and leadership to assess quality and implement clinical training programs to facilitate standardized delivery of services and provide optimal outcomes for member patients. Works in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct orientation and ongoing education for all staff hired at our skilled nursing facility. Education will include the overall processes related to quality care in the skilled nursing setting, documentation and navigation of the electronic record and facility processes and procedures.
Serves as program instructor for nursing personnel training programs. Coordinates present in-service programs (on all shifts, as needed).
Responsible for employee health.
Plans and implements education and training based on established standards, regulatory guidelines, response to new initiatives, and best practices which support nursing personnel in the performance of their duties.
Develops competencies, skill assessments to evaluate educational programs and the integration of knowledge into daily practice. Develop and implement other clinical and operational education programs as indicated based on staff needs assessments, survey results, leadership requests, and other indicators as appropriate.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and leadership to develop standardized materials for training purposes. Provide needed training programs and classes to improve and maintain staff level of clinical excellence.
Evaluate the clinical staff skill level and competency and make recommendations to supervisors on where educational needs must be met.
Provide clear and timely verbal and written feedback of issues to team members and management.
Maintain cooperative and effective workplace relationships and adhere to company Code of Conduct.
Acts as an information and problem solving resource for clinical staff members.
Comply with required workplace safety standards.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Participate in the development and implementation of "survey readiness" QA efforts within the facility on all shifts. Reeducate employees when deficiencies in performance are identified.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in long-term care setting.
Registered in NYS as a Registered Nurse Professional.
Previous teaching experience in geriatric setting highly desirable.
Knowledge of CNA training program, DOH regulations, state survey process.
Proven abilities in leadership and health teaching.
Strong communication skills (written, oral, listening).
Working knowledge of performance improvement, education, infection control methodologies, tools, and techniques.
CPR certified
