Work Shift and Location

Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm. Schedule may require night and weekend availability based on business needs.

Job Overview

The EH&S Specialist plays a key role in executing assigned EH&S tasks. This includes technical support services to operating staff in a newly rebuilt manufacturing operation with guidance from the Plant Manager and Corporate EHS team. The EH&S Specialist also has responsibility to maintain the site's environmental programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works together with the plant site management team and the Corporate EHS team to support the implementation of effective site safety and health programs.
  • Understands OSHA regulations and continuously improves safety programs that assure employee protection and regulatory compliance.
  • Brings a high level of energy and attention to developing a positive safety culture; supports the continuous engagement of the site's Safety Committee.
  • Works with site Training leads to develop and administer training programs that assure applied learnings.
  • Performs inspections and assessments such as behavior safety observations, safety inspections, job hazard assessments and environmental inspections.
  • Develops tracking systems and databases to track and drive completion of action items identified as the result of audits, incidents and inspections.
  • Monitors chemical inventory and manages the site's electronic safety data sheet system.
  • Helps support the implementation of programs aimed at the reduction of wastes and considers company-wide recycling opportunities.
  • Develops new written EHS procedures as required to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Investigates all site injuries and near misses and leads root cause analyses, as appropriate, to identify corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Supports the site's environmental compliance programs and preparation and monitoring of required federal, state and local site permit conditions.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a STEM curriculum is required.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in safety program support is required.
