Position SummaryThis recruitment will be used to fill one part time (maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Office Assistant position for the Dean’s Office in the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Dean’s Office utilizes student workers to perform a wide variety of clerical duties including front desk coverage; maintaining office equipment; handling basic correspondence; and assisting with projects and special assignments.

In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below:

Position Duties- 50% Assist with routine office duties such as answering the phone; printing and copying documents; maintaining front desk area; running errands in the building and across campus; and monitoring the College library. Staff the front desk and present a professional image for visitors.
- 30% Provide a wide variety of clerical support to assist with academic and student services. Responsibilities will include following procedures for tracking and maintaining electronic files; sending out routine correspondence; and updating spreadsheets and records databases.
- 20% Special projects and assignments. Willingness to assist with special assignments including support for College events and professional meetings; creation and maintenance of promotional materials; and assisting with projects as they arise. Occasional opportunities for weekend or evening work.
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:
- High School student:
Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program. - Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term.
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term.
- High School student:
* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
AdditionalRequired Qualifications
- Must be reliable, punctual, and organized.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and comfortable with using computer software.
- Must have a professional demeanor and dress appropriately for a high-level office on campus.
- Must be able to interact well with a diverse clientele.
- Must be able to follow directions and pay attention to detail.
- Previous office experience.
- Experience with presentation and/or design tools such as Canva.
- Interest in learning new software.
