Job Description

This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Administrative Assistant for the Disability Access Services at Oregon State University (OSU). The Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in providing customer service and support to DAS front desk staff, students, parents, and instructors throughout the OSU community. In addition, the assistant will be responsible for managing and developing projects and other administrative related work as assigned.

Position

Duties
  • Takes initiative to make students/visitors feel welcome and safe in person, via phone, and/or email.
  • Provides appropriate answers to questions from students, parents, and instructors.
  • Effectively communicates DAS procedures in person, via phone and/or email.
  • Upload, scan, photocopy, and otherwise handle sensitive documentation and attach to student profile.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Assist with checking out DAS equipment.
  • Problem solves and makes decisions in accordance with DAS policies and procedures.
  • Escalates situations to professional staff when appropriate.
  • Prioritizes work and organizes it a meaningful way.
  • Participate in tabling events throughout campus.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
  • High School student:
    Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term
  • * International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Working Conditions / Schedule

Admin Assistants are expected to work 10-20 hours a week and are eligible for no more than 24 work hours per week during a regular academic term. Work hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday - Friday and closed from 12-1pm for lunch. Admin Assistants are expected to work during Finals week. Summer work is guaranteed. If eligible, students taking a term off can work up to 40 hours.
