Job Responsibilities Perform multipoint inspections
Inspect all vehicles for additional repairs
Communicate additional service/repair needs to service advisors
Check tire pressure
Lubricate moving parts with specified lubricants
Drain oil from crankcase and refill with required amount of oilAdd water to radiator and battery
Replace oil and air filters
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety standards and codes of conduct
Follow dealership safety procedures to avoid exposure to fumes, dirt and harsh chemicals
Compensation
Compensation is based on knowledge and previous experience.
Qualifications Must meet dealership’s requirements for employment
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and information
Familiarity with all aspects of automotive repair/maintenance
Must have a valid driver license and be able to operate manual transmissions
Prior experience as a technician’s helper or apprentice preferred
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements /Working Conditions Occasional exposure to inclement weather
Ability to operate an automobile
Prolonged periods of standing, stooping and bending
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Requires a significant amount of walking and/or standing. May also require working in the seated position for long periods while operating controls with arms and legs. This position may also require working at a production pace while pushing and/or pulling materials from place to place.

Fluid checks and refills:.Inspecting and topping off other vehicle fluids, including brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid.
Tire maintenance:
Checking tire pressure, adding air, and potentially rotating tires.
Lubricating moving parts:.Opens in new tab Applying lubricants to various parts of the vehicle, such as the engine, wheel bearings, and chassis.
Basic inspections:.Inspecting the engine block and underbody for leaks, as well as checking for other potential issues.
Minor repairs:.Performing basic repairs, such as installing air filters, wiper blades, and batteries.
Changing oil and filters:
Draining old oil and replacing it with fresh oil, as well as changing oil filters.
Additional Tasks:
Interacting with customers:
Explaining services to customers, discussing any issues found, and recommending necessary services.
Preparing service reports:
Creating detailed reports for customers outlining the work performed and any recommended services.
Maintaining the workspace:
Keeping the work area clean and organized, and ensuring tools are properly stored.

Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude: A basic understanding of how vehicles work is essential.
Communication skills:
The ability to effectively communicate with customers and explain services is important.
Customer service skills:
Providing friendly and helpful service to customers.
Time management skills:
Being able to efficiently perform tasks within a set timeframe.
Physical abilities:
Lube technicians may need to lift heavy objects, and be able to stand for extended periods.
