A car detailer will spend most of their days interacting with clients and cleaning cars or different vehicles. A car detailer might spend part of the day cleaning the exterior of the cars and the other part of the day working on the interior of the cars. They must take special care of what products they use for the different areas they are cleaning to make sure nothing is damaged during the cleaning.
They might also work with other car detailers, so they should be good cessful candidate for a car detailer or auto detailer position should have experience cleaning a car’s exterior and interior. They should have customer service experience and communicate well with clients from all walks of life. A car detailer should also have experience working with cleaning products and should be able to keep a safe work environment.
Having experience in giving accurate cost estimates is also an asset.
A car detailer or auto detailer does not need any formal education but should have the ability to learn on the job. A lot of car detailer companies train their employees so that each job is done with specific standards in mind. Employees should also expect to be trained in workplace safety and the use of hazardous materials as some cleaners could be dangerous if not handled correctly.
A good car detailer should be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to do their job quickly and efficiently. Car detailers or auto detailers also need to be very personable so that the client feels comfortable leaving their cars with them.
A car detailer or auto detailer spends most of their day cleaning cars. They are in charge of making sure that the job gets done efficiently and up to the set standard. They also spend some time in their day dealing with clients, finding out exactly what they need to be done. Some car detailers also work in group settings and must be good at teamwork.
A car detailer's primary responsibility is to clean vehicles thoroughly. Their duties typically include:
Inspecting vehicles' interiors and exteriors to assess their condition and cosmetic issues
Documenting vehicles' conditions through reports and photos
Using liquids like waxes, polishes and cleaners to add shine to the body, wheels and glass
Shampooing and deodorizing interior seats and floors
Operating tools like steamers, vacuums and buffers on upholstery and paint
Removing debris from cup holders, floors and crevices in vehicle interiors
Treating rust and oxidization to remove buildup and protect from future deterioration
Communicating with customers to understand their concerns and requirements
Applying protective treatments to minimize future damage
Adhering to company guidelines, checklists, processes and quality standards
Monitoring supply inventory and ordering tools and cleaning supplies as necessary
Transporting cars between locations and parking vehicles in safe places buffing and polishing removing pet hairbe ceramic coat certified or willing to earn this certification
