This recruitment will fill one part-time Teaching Assistant position (up to 24 hours per week) for the School of Marketing/Design/Analytics at Oregon State University (OSU).

Position Summary

This Design Thinking Teaching Assistant role offers experience at the intersection of design, innovation, and education, with the chance to contribute to shaping an engaging learning environment. Responsibilities include supporting class activities, grading, facilitating student engagement, and contributing to improvements for an upcoming course redesign to enhance the learning experience. Pay rate for this position is $16.05 per hour.

Position Duties
  • Support class activities and discussions online and in person
  • Assist with student engagement and facilitation
  • Help organize and manage course materials
  • Contribute to strategizing improvements for an upcoming course redesign
  • Provide administrative and logistical support as needed
Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study. Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment. Minimal enrollment standards vary by student type

  • High School student:
    Regularly enrolled in high school or homeschooling
  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
  • Graduate student admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
  • Graduate international student admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by USCIS. A reduced course load must be approved by the Office of International Services (OIS) and provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional

Required Qualifications:

Junior or senior in the College of Business who has successfully completed DSGN 341 and should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Notes:
This position is designated as critical or security-sensitive; therefore, a Criminal History Check is required as per OSU Standard  et seq. Incumbents must self-report convictions. Youth Programs may have additional checks every 2 years. OSU will conduct a review of the National Sex Offender Public Website prior to hire. All job offers are contingent upon Human Resources final approval.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications Working Conditions / Work Schedule

The grading will be done with supervision by the instructor. Expected work is between 5-8 hours per week, subject to variation.
