Undergraduate Programs Progression and Success Advisor

Full‑time (1.00 FTE), 12‑month professional faculty position reporting to the Director of Academic Programs at INTO OSU. The Advisor will oversee academic success advising for international undergraduate students.

Job Summary

INTO OSU is seeking an Undergraduate Programs Progression and Success Advisor. This is a full‑time (1.00 FTE), 12‑month professional faculty position. The Undergraduate Programs Progression and Success Advisor reports to the Director of Academic Programs and oversees the academic success advising for the undergraduate international students at INTO OSU. The INTO OSU center delivers programs and services that support international students when they first arrive at OSU and throughout their first year of studies.

INTO is an organization working in partnership with leading universities and investing in the development of world‑class international student centers.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Academic Success Advising (50%):

  • Provides advising to an assigned cohort of international students about academic planning, course registration, major selection, understanding academic policies and procedures, and using campus tools and resources.
  • Monitors student progress and academic standing and provides one‑on‑one advising on academic skill development, strategies, and resources to at‑risk students.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed student records in compliance with FERPA regulations.
  • Facilitates students’ educational goals, major selection, and professional development.

Academic Success (20%):

  • Provides oversight for the development, implementation, and assessment of undergraduate advising programs at INTO OSU and expertise on student development and retention.
  • Conducts progress and registration audits and participates in registration activities for students in Undergraduate programs.
  • Coordinates orientation events for all new undergraduate students who are in INTO OSU programs or receiving INTO OSU services at the beginning of each academic term.

Advising Coordination (20%):

  • Represents INTO OSU advising on the Academic Advising Council and other relevant campus‑wide committees and work groups.
  • Delivers informational and skills‑based training and shares professional development opportunities about academic advising for the advising teams.
  • Develops and maintains the INTO OSU Undergraduate Advising Canvas sites.
  • Coordinates international direct services, including the international first‑year experience class, student and advisor communication, academic success advising, and registration support.
  • Collaborates with student services, admissions, finance, academic support, and other teams to advise students regarding processes, requirements, and standards at the INTO OSU Center and OSU.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with OSU academic advisors, faculty, student support, and student care offices.
  • Collaborates with Graduate Programs and Academic English teams to provide academic success advising as needed.
  • Collaborates with the INTO OSU Learning Center and instructors to provide support for students receiving INTO OSU academic services.

Other duties (10%):

  • Administrative responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, international studies, psychology, or related field.
  • 2‑years’ experience in advising, coaching, mentoring, or counseling in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with international students in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a manner that shows respect and inclusivity.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Master’s Degree in College Student Services Administration, Counseling, Higher Education, or a related field.
  • Advising or counseling experience in a college or university setting. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and staff.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse cultures who have varying levels of English proficiency.
  • Experience interpreting and communicating policies and procedures to stakeholders.
  • Experience working as a team member on projects and implementation of new initiatives.
