Job SummaryOSU's Faculty and Staff Fitness (FSF) program invites applications for Mind/Body Fitness Instructor positions to teach courses during the Spring, Summer, and Fall of the 2026 academic year. These are professional faculty positions.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Mind/Body courses for OSU faculty, staff, and community.
- Design, deliver, and assess participants’ instruction to promote correct movement.
- Apply inclusive learning principles and equitable teaching practices.
- Possess CPR/AED and first-aid certificates by the start of classes.
- Maintain a safe classroom environment and manage physical demands.
- Bachelor’s degree and one of the following:
- One (1) year of teaching experience in Mind/Body Fitness, Yoga, or Pilates, for a minimum of 2 one‑hour classes per week (≈104 hours annually).
- Nationally recognized professional certification in Mind/Body Fitness, Yoga, or Pilates and 6 months of teaching experience for a minimum of 2 one‑hour classes per week (≈52 hours annually).
- Associate’s degree in Exercise Sports Science or a related field and three (3) years of teaching experience in Mind/Body Fitness, Yoga, or Pilates.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of teaching experience with certification in Mind/Body Fitness, Yoga, or Pilates.
- CPR / AED and First Aid certifications by the start of classes.
- Demonstrated ability to design, teach and assess courses that support inclusive learning principles and promote equitable teaching practices.
- Master’s degree in Kinesiology or a relevant discipline.
- Professional certification in Mind/Body instruction (e.g., Yoga Alliance, Yogafit, OSU Yoga Teacher Training, Stott Pilates, Pilates Method, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE, AFAA).
- Enrolled in or completion of a Kinesiology/Public Health program with a practicum/internship within the FSF organization.
- 5+ years teaching experience.
This hourly position requires demonstration of fitness activities and physical demands such as lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, and twisting. Classes are offered in short blocks throughout the day and week, including early mornings, lunch times, and evenings.
