Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development for the College of Business, the Associate Director of Development is part of a cohort of assistant and associate directors of development officers who support the pipeline development and fundraising goals of the OSU Foundation on behalf of Oregon State University.
The Assistant Director of Development is expected to devote 80% of work time to fundraising activities and 20% of work time to administrative responsibilities.

Measures of Success- Raise $500,000 - $1M per year, including 15-30 mid-level gifts ($2,500 - $49,999) and 2-5 major gifts ($50k+)
- Open 20-50 proposals annually of $2,500+
- Qualify 20-30 potential donors each fiscal year
- Manage a comprehensive portfolio of 50 to 100 relationships.
- Working closely with assigned foundation and academic leadership to advance the philanthropic priorities of the college to develop compelling gift opportunities/materials, such as giving circles, advisory groups, giving day, corporate sponsor ships, and other product‑related giving opportunities to facilitate fundraising conversations with alumni and donors on behalf of the Colleges of Business.
- Collaborate with college/university external relations colleagues to broaden and deepen the engagement of alumni, parents and friends.
- Employing sales enablement technology, conduct electronic outreach (I.e. email, video, texting) to garner both video conference and in‑person visits to build a managed portfolio of donors and pipeline of potential donors.
- Perform related administrative duties, including recording outreach and contact reports in the appropriate systems, setting up donor visits, and managing a travel budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Raise $500,000 - $1M per year, including 15-30 mid-level gifts ($2,500 - $49,999) and 2-5 major gifts ($50k+)
- Open 20-50 proposals annually of $2,500+
- Qualify 20-40 potential donors each fiscal year
- Travel five to seven days per month making three to five visits per travel day
- In addition to electronic outreach, when traveling, conduct 3-5 visits per scheduled travel day.
- Perform related administrative duties for the assigned areas including writing contact reports, budget management, case statement development, and events development
- Assist in increasing the overall productivity and efficiency of the division’s development staff in terms of numbers of potential donor visited, proposals opened, and major gifts closed
- Develop and support clearly defined and strategic fundraising priorities and articulate compelling cases for support going forward to advance them
- Bring the foundation’s organizational values to life by modeling them at all times
- Proven track record of success to mid-level to major gift cultivation and solicitation
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate a strong and compelling case for support
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to create strong professional relationships with colleagues at the Foundation and university
