Position Overview

Teaching is rewarding work. Teaching students with social, emotional, behavioral issues and mental health needs is one of the most fulfilling teaching experiences possible. Our program has unique qualities as it provides a protected environment in which students receive their schooling while protecting the health and safety of themselves and/or others while receiving necessary treatment.

Qualifications
  • Valid Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) teaching license is required, with Multiple Subjects Endorsement for 5-12 grade levels.
  • Secondary endorsement in the content area required.
  • Successful experience directly related to the specific teaching assignment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the mental health needs of youth.
  • Such alternatives to certain above qualifications may apply as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and/or Board of Directors.
  • General Information
  • Promotion of equity and diversity in all settings and understanding and commitment to anti‑racists principles.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA and adherence to the competent and ethical educator practices.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including ORS, OAR, IDEA, FOIA, and CIPA.
  • Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments, ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective team‑building skills of cooperation, communication and active participation.
  • Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user‑friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
  • Maintain regular attendance  punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
  • Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed.
  • Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds.
