Position Title

[POOL] PT Faculty, Driver Education (Behind the Wheel)

This posting is for a pooled position. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to maintain a ready pool of qualified candidates. If/when a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening.

Applicants must reapply to the pool annually to maintain active status.

• Use approved course content and methods to instruct drivers in the behind‑the‑wheel component of the Driver Education program in one or more of the following communities:
  Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Sweet Home.
• Coordinate student behind‑the‑wheel schedules with classroom instructors and the Program Coordinator.
• Promote a safe and effective learning environment that contributes to each student’s success.
• Complete a visual inspection of the vehicle and report any concerns immediately to the program coordinator.
• Maintain records as directed, including student attendance.
• Attend required continuing education conferences and/or workshops for the Driver Education program.
• Attend department meetings as scheduled.

• Valid Oregon driver’s license.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Completed traffic safety education that includes defensive driver training such as bus driver, police training, or an Oregon Department of Transportation training certificate.
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods and to enter and exit vehicles frequently.
• Sufficient arm, hand, and foot dexterity to operate vehicle controls and demonstrate driving techniques.
• Normal hearing and speaking skills to communicate with staff and students in both classroom and in‑vehicle settings.
• Visual acuity to read road signs, monitor traffic conditions, and observe student driving performance.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift light to medium weight (10–50 pounds) as required.

Work is performed indoors in a classroom environment and outdoors in an on‑road driving setting, with potential exposure to varying weather conditions, traffic hazards, and vehicle emissions.

Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps rolled once per term if eligible. Compensation for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work is outlined on the pay scale. All new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit and must be Oregon residents at the time of commencement.

Employment is subject to completion of a post‑offer criminal background check and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Form I‑9. The institution does not offer visa sponsorship.
