Educational Assistant 2 — Internal Only — CVHS Job Description
PURPOSE: To support student learning by assisting licensed staff in curriculum/program implementation.
Hours: 7.5 hrs/day Schedule: Monday - Friday Contract Status: Regular/Probationary FLSA Status: Non‑exempt - Classified Start Date: 2026/2027 School Year Calendar: 183 Work Days Rate: $21.25/hr with benefits
Retirement Contribution: Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP). Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee’s salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part‑time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

- Exercise independent judgment in the management of classroom/program operations in accordance with administrative direction, district policies, and instructional goals.
- Effectively work with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Assist in the instruction of students in small group and one‑on‑one settings; adjust lesson plans or teaching strategies during instructional activities in a reasonably autonomous fashion to achieve learning goals under the supervision of licensed staff.
- Provide supplemental practice in various learning experiences, including drills and activities using learning strategies designed by licensed staff to reinforce or modify skills.
- Assist in preparing instructional materials from licensed staff related to area of assignment; copy materials, develop visual aids and charts, and collect and distribute supplies and equipment.
- Facilitate students’ development of positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults; promote safety by helping students develop self‑confidence.
- Train and assist students in behavior management and social skills; respond to discipline problems; act as a role model.
- Maintain high standards and expectations for students to encourage independent learning and personal growth.
- Maintain, store, and retrieve information promptly using standard office systems, equipment, and software.
- Supervise a variety of student activities throughout the building, sometimes outside the classroom and sometimes outside the traditional instructional day, as assigned, to support the district/building’s discipline and instructional program (homework club, tutoring, etc.).
- Assist licensed staff in training volunteers and professionals to work with students in support of the district educational plan.
- Within specialized areas of assignment, exercise independent judgment to resolve issues and respond to requests for assistance.
- Perform minor medical and health procedures as requested, meeting state and district guidelines.
- Provide other related services as assigned.
- Perform duties courteously and efficiently, building confidence among staff, students, and the public.
- Observe laws, district policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel, parents, students, and the public; work collaboratively as a team member.
- Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and meet deadlines.
- Carry out responsibilities with strong organizational skills under pressure of deadlines and emergencies.
- Respect confidential information and privacy of students, staff, and parents.
- Support students and staff in career‑related learning standards, encouraging development of independent work skills.
- Develop job skills necessary for changes in the position.
- Maintain personal appearance and hygiene appropriate to the position.
- Meet applicable district physical ability, health, and safety guidelines.
- Associate’s degree or higher, or two years post‑secondary study (72 quarter or 48 semester credits), or a passing score on a district‑approved assessment.
