Position Summary
This recruitment will hire a part‑time (maximum 24 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant for the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University. Tekbot Developers create new, targeted solutions for education, industry, and research, including electronic design, coding, mechanical design, web coding, hardware fabrication, store clerk sales, and tutorial/curriculum development.
Responsibilities- Perform tasks assigned by the hiring unit, which may include electronic design, coding, mechanical design, web coding, hardware fabrication, store clerk sales, and tutorial or curriculum development.
- Support the quality of education in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department by contributing to a wide variety of projects.
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program of study.
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:
- High School student:
Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program. - Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term, unless allowed fewer hours by the Office of International Services with approval.
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term, unless approved by the Office of International Services.
- High School student:
- Pursuing a degree in a STEM field.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
- Attention to detail and good personal organization.
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and instruction of engineering students.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
- Interest in electronics and/or computer science through creation of projects.
