Job Title
Student Outreach Assistant – Kid Spirit Program Division of Extension & Engagement, Oregon State University
Position SummaryThis position will support the Kid Spirit Program, a youth outreach initiative that provides quality and safe learning experiences. The role includes leading specialized activities, ensuring safety, and engaging families while fostering professional growth for student employees.
Responsibilities- Instruction, Lesson Planning & Youth Accountability (65%) – Lead activities that promote nutrition and cooking, coach skill development, prepare lesson plans, maintain a safe learning environment, assist instructors, attend orientations and trainings, shop for groceries, and support virtual live cooking sessions.
- Safety, First Aid & Documentation (10%) – Monitor participant safety, administer first aid, initiate emergency procedures, complete incident and behavioral reports, and communicate effectively with supervisors and families.
- Training, Meetings & Professional Development (10%) – Attend orientation, program meetings, and in‑service training; review policies and guidelines; pursue career‑growth opportunities.
- Equipment & Supplies Management (5%) – Check out, request, and use equipment; maintain and organize the equipment area; report needs and safety concerns.
- Program Promotion & Family Engagement (5%) – Communicate progress to parents, promote Kid Spirit programs, serve as an ambassador, respond promptly to communications, maintain accurate paperwork, and collaborate with team members.
- Other duties: carry out additional responsibilities, remain academically enrolled, meet academic standing and enrollment requirements, and maintain any required certifications.
- Current enrollment in high school, community college, or university, pursuing a program or course of study.
- Maintain required academic standing (students on suspension are ineligible).
- Meet enrollment standards (High School: regular enrollment;
Undergraduate: 6 credit hours/term; Graduate: 5 credit hours/term; International students may be exempt with approval). - Preferred:
Nutrition experience and passion for cooking.
This is a critical or security‑sensitive position; successful completion of a Criminal History Check and other required background checks (including National Sex Offender Public website review) is mandatory. All job offers are contingent upon Human Resources final approval.
