Assistant Director of Athletic Counseling

Full‑time, 12‑month professional faculty position at Oregon State University. The Assistant Director of Athletic Counseling provides strategic leadership for the academic counseling department and supervises a team of student‑athlete counselors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee academic counseling services for student‑athletes across all sports teams.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental initiatives and professional development of counselors.
  • Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and university eligibility and APR/GSR requirements.
  • Collaborate with coaches, athletic administrators, and campus units to support student‑athletes.
  • Coordinate official and unofficial student‑athlete visitations and monitor APR and GSR data.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience supporting student‑athletes in an athletic academic support program.
  • Strong working knowledge of NCAA eligibility requirements and APR/GSR monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and administrative skills.
  • Commitment to promoting an inclusive work environment.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience advising college students.
  • Experience supervising professional staff.
  • Experience with program development and assessment in higher education.
