The School of Language, Culture, and Society invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month fixed‑term Instructor position. The role is within the College of Liberal Arts, Marine Studies major, teaching required MAST courses such as MAST 201 Humans and Ocean, MAST 300 Society, Culture, and the Marine Environment, and MAST 444 Writing for Marine Studies.
Key Responsibilities- 90% teaching of MAST courses
- 10% service duties
Standard weekday work focused on teaching classes online and in person, grading, preparing syllabi and course content. Involves potential weekend work and travel for experiential learning courses.
What You Will Need- Master’s degree in a social science discipline with research expertise in Marine Studies or related field.
- Evidence of successful undergraduate teaching and ability to design and deliver in‑person and online courses.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex social science concepts to diverse student audiences and mentor students in an inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to engage with faculty, students, and curricula across disciplines, contributing to interdisciplinary teaching.
- Evident commitment to educational equity, effectiveness, and inclusivity.
- PhD in a social science discipline with research expertise in Marine Studies or related field.
- Willingness to teach undergraduate students across all course levels.
- Experience teaching interdisciplinary or experiential courses.
- Potential to contribute to program support and service.
