Job Summary:

The School invites applications for one or more fixed‑term, non‑tenure track full/part‑time Instructor positions. The instructor will teach throughout the 2025‑2026 academic year and Fall Term 2026 on a term‑by‑term basis in on‑campus or online courses, including courses developed through the university’s E‑campus. Some appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition on an annual basis at the discretion of the School Head.

90 % Teaching

• Teach in‑person and/or online courses in areas such as architectural engineering, construction engineering management, engineering education, geomatics engineering, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure materials engineering, ocean and coastal engineering, structural engineering, surveying, transportation engineering, water resources engineering, statics, and information technology (Excel, VBA, MATLAB). Assist in course material development and overall curriculum design.
• Equip students with required skill sets, facilitate classroom discussions, assess student performance, prepare students for leadership roles, and create an inclusive classroom environment that supports diversity and equity.

5 % Supervision

• Provide leadership, supervision, and direction for undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants.

5 % Service

• Serve on committees, participate in professional development trainings, and support university and college strategic initiatives linked to the School of Civil and Construction Engineering.

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Demonstrable interest in teaching and mentoring.
• Ability to work within an established course/curriculum structure.
• Proficiency in communicating technical information in written and spoken English.
• Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and excellence in the academic community.

• PhD in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Experience teaching lab‑based courses at the college or university level.
• Experience with remote and online teaching.
• Experience with course management tools such as Canvas.
• Experience developing instructional materials for online or hybrid courses.
• Experience supervising undergraduate and graduate assistants.

Working conditions vary depending on courses assigned.

Salary is competitive and will be negotiated with the School Head.
