Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill 1 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) student job for the College of Business at Oregon State University (OSU). Join us in empowering students to excel in their understanding of statistics for business! We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Teaching Assistant (TA) for BA275 - Foundations of Statistical Inference for the upcoming academic year ).

As a TA, you will play a vital role in supporting students' learning and comprehension of statistical concepts. This position offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your leadership and communication skills, deepen your understanding of quantitative methods used in business, and contribute to the academic success of students in the College of Business.

Pay rate for this position is $16.55 per hour.

Position Duties
  • Assist the instructor in proctoring exams on campus.
  • Hold regular office hours to provide additional support and guidance to students.
  • Grade weekly assignments and/or discussion boards online with feedback.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Respond promptly to student inquiries and concerns via email or in-person.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
  • High School student:
    Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program
  • Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required:

Must have completed at least one class in statistics with a minimum grade of B+. Demonstrated enthusiasm for statistics and a genuine desire to help others learn. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to complete tasks in a timely and organized manner. Perform basic functions in excel. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard  et seq.
