Job Description

This recruitment will be used to fill two part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Project Assistant positions for the Human Dimensions Lab in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU). The Human Dimensions Lab at Oregon State University is seeking two research assistants to provide technical and data entry support for a study on human wellbeing in the Puget Sound.

The project assistants will input survey data into an Excel database, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency. They will work closely under the project lead, Lauren Rice, to develop strategies and expectations for their work.

Position Duties
  • Completion of human subjects training through the CITI Program
  • Read literature relevant to the project
  • Enter survey data using Microsoft Excel
  • Develop strategies for issues that may arise during data entry
  • Communicate often with project lead, including check-ins and deadlines

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
  • High School student:
    Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
  • * International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required
  • Able to complete high-quality work doing repetitive tasks
  • Detail oriented and able to work independently but not shy to seek advice
  • Comfortable with Microsoft or similar software products
  • Able to follow confidentiality procedures and be committed to ethical research practices
  • Undergraduate and graduate students welcome to apply

  • On campus and Ecampus students welcome but must work on OSU, Corvallis campus
Preferred
  • Some experience with survey data
  • Some experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Some exposure to qualitative research methods
  • Completion of IRB CITI human subjects training
Working Conditions/Schedule

All work will be completed on a laptop computer indoors. Laptops and software are provided.
