Job Summary

The Office of Academic Faculty Excellence is seeking a University Prestigious Awards Associate Director. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. The Associate Director, University Prestigious Awards (ADUPA) advances Oregon State University’s efforts to increase faculty recognition through national and international awards, honors, fellowships, academy memberships, and other prestigious distinctions. Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Excellence and housed within the Office of Academic Faculty Excellence (OAFE), this position serves as the university’s central resource for faculty recognition and awards support.

The role provides organizational design, efficiency analysis, and process development for university wide faculty awards activities. The position develops and maintains strategic inventories of priority awards, analyzes and improves nomination workflows, recommends and implements solutions, develops communication plans, and provides training and assessment to strengthen institutional capacity for faculty recognition. The ADUPA collaborates with colleges, academic units, and university leaders to improve workflow, quality standards, and long term strategic planning related to faculty awards.

This position plays an important role in advancing OSU’s strategic plan, Prosperity Widely Shared, by supporting faculty excellence and increasing the visibility and impact of OSU faculty. The role ensures long term institutional commitments to faculty recognition through sustained process design, capacity building, and strategic coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously evaluate a strategic, university wide inventory of high impact awards, honors, fellowships, academy memberships, and recognition pathways to ensure alignment with faculty accomplishments and institutional priorities. (Current awards can be found on the OSU website – over 1,000)
  • Serve as a central liaison to colleges, academic units, and department leaders, providing guidance on award opportunities, nomination processes, workflow expectations, and candidate readiness.
  • Identify, assess, and cultivate prospective candidates across colleges and career stages through systematic review of faculty accomplishments, benchmarking data, and long term readiness indicators. ADUPA will proactively research available awards available nationally and internationally, identify faculty, and encourage and assist colleges and departments to apply.
  • Design, manage, and optimize nomination development and submission processes, including timelines, work plans, procedural steps, supporting materials, and internal review protocols to ensure efficiency and quality insuring consistency across colleges.
  • Evaluate nomination materials for completeness, consistency, clarity, and alignment with award criteria, recommending improvements to strengthen competitiveness. Provide expertise for submission materials and documentation of submissions regardless of successful results.
  • Coordinate and streamline external letter solicitation, internal review processes, and submission logistics to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to award requirements.
  • Advance institutional visibility and recognition strategies by aligning awards efforts with OSU’s strategic priorities and identifying opportunities to elevate faculty accomplishments.
