Mechanical Equipment Manager – Nuclear Steam Supply System

Corvallis, OR (or remote with 10–15% travel)
Work Status:
Direct Hire with benefits
Annual Salary: $150,000 – $170,000 (commensurate with experience)
Citizen Status: U.S. Citizenship required (DOE regulations)
Position SummaryThe NSSS engineering organization generates technical requirements and design parameters for the small modular advanced light water reactor. The Manager of NSSS appurtenance design leads a team responsible for ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III appurtenance and other component design. All work complies with ASME NQA‑1 and NRC guidelines.
Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, and execute work on NSSS appurtenance and related components.
- Lead peer reviews and technical audits to ensure conformance to requirements.
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables (design specification, loading reports, drawings, interface control drawings, calculations, vendor scopes of work, vendor oversight activities, QME/EQ specifications).
- Develop and update company technical standards and practices.
- Prepare estimates, schedules, labor, and material forecasts.
- Apply sound approaches to solve technical problems and lead cross‑functional projects.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing reports, approving timecards, enforcing rules, and making procurement decisions.
- Develop technical statements of work and evaluate performance, administer coaching, and conduct annual reviews.
- Develop training materials and develop team members’ capabilities to support career and team objectives.
- Interface and coordinate with internal and external clients to ensure successful project execution.
- Build effective relationships within the organization.

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or nuclear engineering (advanced degree preferred).
- 8+ years of mechanical engineering design experience, with personal accountability for design decisions.
- Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III for reactor, pressure and pipe vessels.
- Design experience with commercial nuclear components strongly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of ASME Y14 standards for engineering drawings.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex projects across multiple phases.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10
