Compensation: $18.40 - $24.00 per hour (based on years of experience)

Summary:

The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant provides assistance to the physician with patient care in accordance with established methods and techniques while conforming to recognized standards.

Principal Responsibilities:

1.Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles containedwithin.

2.Compiles all chart and backgroundinformation at the beginning of the day for the physician.

3. Performs ocular screeningexaminations, auto refraction, K. Readings, visual acuity testing, and otherrequired tests using various standardized means in order to prepare the physician with the information needed for the care of Ophthalmic patients. Maintain and repair all equipment in a timely manner.

4. Reads glasses on lensometer.

5. Assists in surgical procedures withthe ability to prepare the patients for the physician’s examinations.

6. Stocks and maintain inventory controlof medicines and supplies. Clean andstock shared work areas and exam rooms.

Education, Licensure, and

Experience:

1.High school diploma or equivalent required.

2. Current certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.

3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hi rerequired.

Knowledge and

Skills:

1. Knowledge of basic clinical skills toprovide patient care.

2. Ability to prioritize.

3. Ability to work compatibly with physicians, patients and other staff.

4. Must also be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and cope with the hazards of a busy, fast-paced work environment.
