Position: PACS Administrator I

This position will be on-site about 75% of the time and may travel to various site locations. Other work 25% of the time could be remote.

Job Summary / Purpose

Responsible for the daily administration and support of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) and CPACS (Cardiology Picture Archiving and Communications System), collaborating with Imaging, Information Services, the Physician community, and external customers.

Department Description

Information Services is committed to providing leadership, support and coordination of technology at Samaritan Health Services. The IS Informatics team supports the Electronic Health Record (EHR), including training and at the elbow support, Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS), and integrations. The IS Informatics team maintains responsibility for production support 24/7 for the business line.

Experience / Education / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in a related field) or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience in Information Technology or Diagnostic Imaging required.
  • One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Epic Cupid structured reporting experience preferred.
  • Experience or training in the following preferred:
    • Basic PC hardware and software troubleshooting.
    • Planning and facilitating meetings.
    • Relevant diagnostic imaging clinical experience (ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT or similar).
    • Imaging Department procedures and workflows.

    Knowledge of and ability to comply with State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information and how it applies to health information technology.

    Ability to identify complex problems, review related information, employ creativity and alternative thinking to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to maintain patience and composure in high stress/difficult situations. Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast paced environments.
  • Communication/Medical Terminology:
    Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues. Ability to perform group presentations and listen to and understand complex information and ideas. Knowledge of medical records, procedures, and terminology. Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

    Ability to lead a team developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time. Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize multiple fast-moving projects with changing priorities, drivers, and dependencies.
