Surgical Tech- Corvallis

Jogan Health is looking for a Surgical Tech for a temporary assignment in Corvallis, Oregon. The Surgical Tech assists the registered nurse in the intra-operative care of the surgical patient by performing routine and delegated duties according to the policies and procedures.

• Title: Certified Surgical Tech
• Location: Corvallis, OR
• Pay Local: $56.50/hr
• Pay Traveler: $37/hr + Travel Stipend + $55 Per Diem days worked + Lodging Provided
• Pay Traveler No Per Diem: $44/hr + Travel Stipend + Lodging
• Schedule: Days (0645 – 1730) Rotating Weekends
• Contract Type: 13‑week assignment

• Take an active role in surgical procedures, under the direction of the Clinical Service Lead or Service Coordinator, ensuring instruments and equipment are available to their specialty service for use.
• Demonstrate knowledge in the care and handling of instruments, sutures, and other operating room equipment to decrease risk of surgical infection and to promote longer equipment lifespans.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by preparing and passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed during the operative procedure.
• Assist the RN in the delivery of care to the intra-operative procedure.
• Demonstrate knowledge of principles of surgical asepsis.
• Demonstrate proper handling of specimens.
• Consult with or advise surgical personnel of instrument or equipment needs requiring follow‑up or attention.
• Utilize physician preference cards and inventory lists to accurately organize equipment and supplies for operative surgical procedures.
• Proficiently perform all complex procedures listed in Surgical Technologist job description.

• Current documentation of certification to practice surgical technology in Oregon required.
• Health Care Provider American Heart Association BLS required upon submission.
• Experience or training in computer applications preferred.

Certification options:

• Option 1
  • Successful completion of a training program for surgical technologists in a branch of the armed forces of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corp.
  • Successful completion of 16 hours of continuing education every two (2) years relevant to the medical-surgical practice of surgical technology.
• Option 2
  • Successful completion of a surgical technology education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
  • Certification as a surgical technologist issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or successful completion of the CAAHEP or ABHES educational program within the past twelve months.
• Option 3
  • Candidate has practiced surgical technology at least two (2) years between January 1, 2014 and January 1, 2017 in a hospital, ambulatory surgical center or as an employee of a federal government agency or institution.
  • Successful completion of 16 hours of continuing education every two (2) years relevant to the medical-surgical practice of surgical technology.
