Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill an Event Support Student position to support the daily operations of The LaSells Stewart Center by serving as a primary point of contact for clients, guests, visitors, and campus partners. This position supports the daily operations of The LaSells Stewart Center by assisting with event execution, guest services, and venue readiness.

Responsibilities include supporting day‑of‑event operations, welcoming and assisting guests, monitoring event spaces, helping ensure facilities are prepared to The LaSells Stewart Center standards (including setting and tearing down events), and serving as a resource for clients, attendees, and staff. This role works closely with event and facility teams to help deliver a seamless experience for conferences, meetings, performances, and special events.

The LaSells Stewart Center is Oregon State University’s premier performing arts and conference venue, which hosts a wide range of campus and community events year‑round. With over 40,000 square feet of conference and performance space, The LaSells Stewart Center hosts a wide variety of events year‑round, including conferences, lectures, concerts, cultural celebrations, and art exhibitions.

Support event operations by assisting with venue readiness, event setup and breakdown, registration activities, way finding, and other event logistics. Welcome and assist guests, clients, event attendees, and vendors in a professional and friendly manner; provide information and support to ensure a positive event experience. Perform event opening and closing responsibilities to ensure event spaces are set up, maintained, and reset according to event requirements and facility restored to The LaSells Stewart Center standards.

Assist with the setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting of audiovisual and presentation technology, provide event technology support to clients and presenters, and report equipment or technical issues to the AV Manager. Monitor event and public spaces to ensure cleanliness, accessibility, safety, and guest satisfaction; identify and communicate operational concerns as needed. Maintain a thorough understanding of upcoming conferences, meetings, performances, and special events to provide accurate information and support to guests and clients.

Serve as a communication liaison between event staff, clients, vendors, and guests, helping communicate event updates and operational needs. Assist with room access, guest check‑in, crowd flow, and other event‑related activities as assigned. Support the overall success of The LaSells Stewart Center by providing exceptional customer service and contributing to a professional, organized, and guest‑focused environment.
