Position: Human Resources Generalist I

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Human Resources Generalist I to provide support for a 150‑employee chemical manufacturing company operating across two locations in Oregon. The ideal candidate will play an important role in supporting and facilitating all human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, compliance with labor laws, and day-to-day HR operations and employee support.

The HR Coordinator will work onsite in Corvallis, Oregon and reports to the HR Manager as part of a two‑person HR team.

Primary Responsibilities Leave, Accommodation & Benefits Administration
  • Support the management of leave programs, including FMLA, OFLA, PLO, and other company-support leaves.
  • Support administration of accommodations in accordance with the ADA.
  • Support workers’ compensation claims.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, tracking, and communication related to all leave cases.
  • Work with leave provider and broker to resolve any issues with leave administration.
  • Provide benefits administration, including enrollment, QE changes, and employee support.
  • Partner with payroll to ensure accurate processing of leave and benefit‑related changes.
Recruiting, Onboarding & Offboarding
  • Support full‑cycle recruiting activities, including job postings, screenings, interview coordination, and support hiring managers.
  • Facilitate new‑hire onboarding, orientation, and integration into the organization.
  • Coordinate offboarding processes, including exit documentation, system updates, and COBRA administration.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant personnel files and HR records.
Employee Relations & HR Support
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR inquiries.
  • Support the HR Manager in addressing employee relations matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Support performance review cycles, compensation processes, and training initiatives.
  • Provide back‑up support for HR Manager when needed.
HR Operations & Compliance
  • Maintain HRIS data accuracy and support reporting needs.
  • Assist with policy updates, handbook revisions, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain HR metrics, reports, and documentation as needed.
  • Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support the HR Manager in addressing employee relations matters with professionalism and confidentiality as needed.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a human resources role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing leave programs (FMLA, OFLA, ADA, etc.) and policy development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and HR documentation processes.
  • Experience with manufacturing and/or technical environment preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without the need for employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre‑employment drug test.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and/or stand in one place for extended periods.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and mouse for computer data entry and/or analysis, and for presenting data.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • 100% of work hours are expected to be onsite.
