Position Summary
This recruitment will fill five part-time (maximum 24 hours per week) Classroom Technology Services positions at Oregon State University.
The Student Technician will coordinate with professional staff to maintain and support audio/visual presentation systems in classrooms, labs, and conference rooms. Duties include upgrades and installations, imaging and testing of installed computers, and other assigned tasks.
Responsibilities- Conduct audio/visual systems service and testing throughout academic terms, reporting issues into the Help Desk trouble ticket database.
- Perform computer imaging and testing under direction of the IT Consultants.
- Staff the help desk phone system; assist client needs in classrooms, labs, and conference rooms via Crestron Room View and VNC interface.
- Log all calls for services into Help Desk trouble ticket database.
- Provide basic instruction on operation of audio/visual systems to customers.
- Assist with event setups and teardowns as necessary.
- Assist with audio/visual upgrades, new installations, etc. under supervision of a professional technician.
- Ensure safety and security of the services working area.
- Maintain a clean, professional working area in the Help Desk Phone Center.
Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible.
Must meet minimum enrollment standard:
- High School student: regularly enrolled in a high‑school or participating in a home‑schooling program.
- Undergraduate & post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term.
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term.
International students may carry fewer hours under approval from the Office of International Services.

- Skilled knowledge of audio/visual equipment.
- Skilled knowledge of computers and presentation software.
- Self‑motivated and initiative‑taking with tasks.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Positive customer‑oriented attitude.
Position is designated as a critical or security‑sensitive position; incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be deemed position qualified per OSU Standard 576‑055‑0000 et seq. Incumbents must self‑report convictions; youth programs may require additional checks every 24 months.
OSU will review the National Sex Offender Public website prior to hire.
Working Conditions / Work ScheduleFlexible schedule to provide customer service and Help Desk coverage; shifts start at 7:30 am and end at 7:30 pm.
