Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY

The Administrative Assistant to Victim Services will provide support services to the Crime Victim Advocates. This position will inform victims of rights and resources, as well as act as a liaison between victim, prosecutor and court.

  • 3 years experience providing general office or clerical support; AND
  • 1 month experience in a District Attorney’s Victim Assistance Program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following minimum qualifications are REQUIRED for this position:

  • High school diploma or GED; AND
  • 3 years experience providing general office or clerical support; AND
  • 1 month experience in a District Attorney’s Victim Assistance Program

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Please note candidates must have at least six months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.

Special Requirements
  • Hiring is contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and ongoing compliance with Federal, State and Local statutes.
The Ideal Candidate has
  • Experience in a professional office setting (ideally in a legal setting)
  • Knowledge of the juvenile and adult criminal justice system and legal procedure including state and local laws, legal terminology and court processes/procedures.
  • Experience or knowledge of victim advocacy
  • Knowledge of legal office practices, procedures, documents, terminology, victimology; court procedures and processes.
  • Skills in operating basic office equipment including a personal computer utilizing word processing software, multi-line telephone and copying machine.
  • Skills in interacting with people under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  • Ability to make decisions independently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain records, reports and other data.
  • Ability to use good judgment in carrying out tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
