Summary

• JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

  • Under the direction of the department chief, nurse leader or designee; provides practice management support to a clinical team, recognizing the patient as the central focus. Provides telephone advice to patients with minor acute problems. Serves as a patient educator in areas related to self-care. Supports the on-going management of patients with stable chronic diseases. Monitors acutely ill patients during the patient visit.
    
    Performs a variety of procedures that are within the scope of the professional nursing practice.

• DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

  • The Samaritan Family Medicine Residency Clinic (SFMRC) offers complete health care for patients and families across the spectrum of life, from newborns to seniors. The foundation of primary care is to build enduring and continuity focused relationships with patients to promote better health. SFMRC consists of board certified family medicine physicians and resident physicians at various stages of their post graduate training.
    
    This clinic provides acute/same day care, chronic disease management, preventative care, women’s health, general pediatric care, office based procedures, and pre/post-natal care that aligns with the clinical competencies required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

• EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN licensure required.

  • Healthcare Provider BLS required.

  • BSN preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients, coworkers and other practice customers.

  • Ability to accurately observe, analyze and interpret general and technical data both verbal and written to accurately communicate this information.

  • Communication and interpersonal relationship skills to initiate and maintain a collaborative care environment.

  • Ability to work autonomously.

  • Ability to manage high volumes of patients in a short span of time, while dealing with unpredictable issues.

  • Personal flexibility to perform in an ever-changing work environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities while under pressure.
