We are hiring for one seasonal, full-time Natural Resource Specialist 1 – CWD Surveillance Biologist in Corvallis, Oregon. This position is expected to last from September 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026 (These are estimated dates. Length of season(s) may be shortened or extended depending on project needs, funding, or factors beyond the project’s control).

What you will do:
  • CWD database entry and data management/GIS mapping
  • Public response to phone inquiries
  • CWD sampling and collection of harvested and road-kill salvage cervid heads and carcasses
  • Online hunter CWD results reporting
  • Collection of samples of harvested animals from taxidermists and meat processors
  • Carcass disposal coordination
  • Hunting season check station
  • Removal of targeted surveillance animals
  • Public outreach
  • CWD field equipment (truck, trailer, ATV) maintenance
  • This position also requires an ATV Safety Card within the first 30 days of hire.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORMinimum Qualifications
  • Option 1: A Bachelor's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework;
  • Option 2:
    Three years of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program.

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range.

If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
