Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill 1 part-time (maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant position for the Department of Food Science and Technology at Oregon State University (OSU). Performs research in support of academic faculty Elizabeth Tomasino's program.

Position Duties

Duties to be determined by the hiring unit and may include cleaning the lab, routine to complex technical tasks in support of Dr. Tomasino's research. The research will be related to vineyard and field work, data gathering, chemical analysis, data analysis, smoke trials, winemaking, sensory analysis and assisting with sample preparation. The work may include laboratory, data collection, or simple analysis and involve assisting Primary Investigator in writing research reports and manuscripts.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Cleaning lab

  • Searching research papers related to the projects, performing experiments, and data analysis using bioinformatics tools

  • Assist with sensory panels

  • Laboratory organization/design to increase the laboratory's efficiency for experiments
