Home Life is a private nonprofit organization in Corvallis, Oregon, that helps adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live active, independent, and meaningful lives.

This schedule requires staff to be available Monday through Friday between 8:00a and 8:00p. Scheduled hours will vary within this timeframe, with a guaranteed 40 hours per week.

Job Summary

Job Coaches will provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within integrated community employment and may also assist with pre-employment skill development programs.

Minimum Qualifications Eligibility for Employment
  • Ability to pass an initial criminal history check from the Department of Human Services Criminal Records Unit and recheck every 2 years.
  • Be a citizen of the United States or legally able to work in the United States
  • Must be at least eighteen years old and hold a current driving license, insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Ability to complete required training and annual training thereafter.
  • The ability to maintain regular attendance and to perform tasks outlined in this description (with or without a reasonable accommodation) is an essential function of this position.

Abilities
  • Ability to transport supported individuals in Home Life vehicles in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to support individuals in maintaining employment and working toward employment-related goals.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain required documentation.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and follow individual-specific safety protocols and support plans.
  • Ability to perform basic computer and mobile device functions.
  • Basic understanding of workplace expectations, including attendance, communication, professionalism, and task completion.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish positive working relationships with supported individuals, employers, coworkers, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience is not required but preferred.
  • Experience working with and/or supporting individuals with employment or vocational-related work.
  • Knowledge of the Vocational Rehabilitation and Developmental Disability Supported Employment systems and Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
  • Experience working in a variety of settings preferred.

General Responsibilities Overall Expectations
  • The Home Life Vocational Job Coach is responsible for supporting individuals in a variety of employment-related settings.
  • The Job Coach reports directly to the Vocational Program Manager, while in collaboration with the Lead Job Coach and Job Developer(s).
  • Work as a team with the other Job Coaches in Home Life’s Vocational Program to ensure the best quality and consistency of services are provided.
  • Job Coaches should understand that working hours may fluctuate based on the scheduling needs of the clients. Routinely check When to Work for schedule and updates.
  • Ensure proper documentation of progress, changes to their job duties, overall independence, and any other individual support needs in Therap.
