The Family Builder provides services to families in which children are at risk of out‑of‑home placement, children are reuniting with families after out‑of‑home placement, children are currently in out‑of‑home placement, and/or foster or adoptive families who have children experiencing disruptive placements. The role includes skills training for adults, children, and adolescents to address safety concerns, implements effective service plans in collaboration with ODHS caseworkers and family members, adheres to ODHS contract requirements, and requires the ability to travel and transport clients.

The Parenting Skills Developer provides hands‑on parent training to families who have an open child welfare case. Responsibilities include skills training for adults, children, and adolescents to address safety concerns, implementing effective service plans in collaboration with ODHS caseworkers and family members, adhering to ODHS contract requirements, and traveling to transport clients.

Full‑time (40 hours per week). Actual hours may vary daily depending on client needs. Some overtime may be required and approved by a supervisor.

• Two years of experience working with at‑risk families within the last five years or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
• Experience working with families in which children have experienced abuse or neglect.
• Respectful, open, unbiased, and accepting attitude toward clients and families.
• Effective communication with children, adolescents, parents, staff, and community members.
• Pass an ODHS background check and/or fingerprinting.
• Maintain client confidentiality.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.
• Knowledge of family dynamics involving sexual abuse, substance use, and intimate partner violence.
• Two years of experience in physical care of children, parenting skills and techniques, and basic child development knowledge.
• Experience working with disadvantaged individuals and families.
• Knowledge of the Circle of Security, Make Parenting a Pleasure, and/or Nurturing Parenting curricula.

• Help family members overcome barriers and identify strengths to meet child safety, permanency, and well‑being goals.
• Maintain and carry out all scheduled appointments.
• Collaborate with ODHS and follow the case plan.
• Utilize Motivational Interviewing, Wraparound, Collaborative Problem Solving, and other evidence‑based practices.
• Refer clients to supportive services as appropriate.
• Provide interventions that are family‑focused, culturally relevant, behaviorally goal‑directed, and trauma‑informed.
• Provide change and safety services to children, adolescents, and families in homes and communities.
• Assess caregiver capacities related to child safety and well‑being.
• Conduct parent‑child coaching and interaction sessions.
• Help caregivers improve protective capacities.
• Schedule appointments to support safety plans, including drop‑in sessions.
• Offer parent education, communication skills, home management, budgeting, stress reduction, and stabilization services.
• Assist non‑offending parents in identifying and meeting needs of child victims of sexual abuse and provide counseling referrals.
