Family Children First Council is seeking a - Part time employee who is a compassionate, confident, and highly organized Visitation Specialist to help families grow stronger and work toward reunification. The ideal candidate won’t just supervise visits - they will stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and maintain strong boundaries while providing real-time coaching and modeling of safe, nurturing parenting skills.

This role is perfect for someone who can ensure a secure environment, intervene when safety concerns arise, and collaborate closely with parents, child welfare staff, foster parents, and other service providers.

Position Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Family Children First Council (FCFC) Director, the Visitation Specialist
- Unit Support Worker 2 position provides structured support to families by facilitating safe, consistent, and developmentally appropriate visitation services, while assisting with administrative, clerical, and unit-wide operational tasks to ensure effective coordination of programs that promote child well-being and family stability.

Additional responsibilities include providing active, real-time coaching, modeling, and positive reinforcement to parents during visits; supervising parent-child interactions to ensure a safe and secure environment; and intervening immediately when safety concerns arise. This position also collaborates with parents, child welfare professionals, foster parents, and other service providers; maintains accurate, detailed, and objective documentation; facilitates pre- and post-visit meetings to discuss goals, progress, and feedback;

assists with transportation; and attends court hearings as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years’ experience working with children and families,
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and coach adults, particularly in child development, nurturing, and behavioral management.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to create objective, non-judgmental reports.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and child abuse registry check.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to monitor active children (running, playing).
  • Ability to lift up to 30-40 lbs.
