Public Assistance Eligibility Referral Specialist ; ERCoshocton and Family Services

Coshocton Job and Family Services are looking for a dedicated and caring person who has a customer centered focus to join our Public Assistance team. Our Eligibility Referral Specialist 2 workers gather data to determine eligibility for a variety of programs and services that are offered. Candidates must be willing to work in an office environment, talk with clients over the phone to gather necessary information to make decisions and determinations and make referrals to other programs or services as needed to ensure the families needs are met.

Job :

Determines initial and ongoing eligibility for Public Assistance programs (i.e. OWF, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc.). Duties performed as assigned during monthly case bank processing and requires working as a member of a cohesive team. Approves or denies recipient’s initial program eligibility based upon established state regulations and procedures. Process includes, but is not limited to: conducting interactive interview with recipient (phone, agency or home/outreach locations);

utilization of and data entry on various computer systems, Ohio Benefits Worker Portal (OBWP) and/or manual determination of eligibility by completion/processing of appropriate forms; obtains and certifies recipient’s documentation (i.e. income, family size, resources, residence, etc.); computation of recipient’s budget; explains recipient’s eligibility and rights and responsibilities; refers recipient to other agency or community programs/services when appropriate. Participates as assigned on the Canton Wave 1 shared services phone lines.

Scans, retrieves, and reviews documents in the EDMS imaging systems (Compass Pilot and Unity Client).

• One year of experience as an Eligibility/Referral Specialist 1, 30121 OR two years experience as Unit Support Worker 2, 30112
• Or completion of undergraduate major core coursework in behavioral science, social science or education, one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding, or word processing
• Or completion of two years of technical education in behavioral science or social science, one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding, or word processing
• OR two courses or one year of experience in behavioral science, social science, or customer service techniques, one course or six months experience in business mathematics, one course or six months experience in business English, one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding or word processing OR education, training and/or experience in amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above

• Starting rate $18.10/ hour depending on experience.
