Cleveland-Cliffs Steel is seeking a Quality Laboratory Shift Manager to join our Coshocton Works Quality Department. This role is responsible for overseeing the Metallurgical Testing Laboratory and ensuring operational excellence. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and thrives in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Summary of Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the daily operations of the Metallurgical Testing Laboratory.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and Job Safety and Health Assessments (JSHA) to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with Operations, Scheduling, and Sales teams to ensure timely testing and accurate quality release of materials.
- Maintain and enforce the Laboratory’s Quality Standard Operating Practices (QSOP).
- Train and develop Metallurgical Laboratory Technicians.
- Manage inventory of supplies and spare parts necessary for testing.
- Oversee the operation, certification, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Coordinate special testing projects to support productivity and quality improvements.
- Provide operational support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work primarily day shifts with occasional weekend duties.
- Willingness to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Travel:
Infrequent.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with flat‑rolled steel testing equipment and procedures.
- Familiarity with quality systems such as TS‑16949, A2LA, AS9100.
- 5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
