- Ability to troubleshoot equipment using PLC programs to support plant electricians.
- Install Programmable Logic Controllers on new and existing equipment.
- Good understanding of NFPA 70E and basic wiring techniques.
- Experience with drives, motors, and motor controls.
- Possess a good understanding of sensors.
- Basic understanding of pneumatics – cylinders, valves, solenoids, etc.
- Understand ladder logic programs.
- Read and understand electrical schematics.
- Document work and maintain records, back‑up copies of programs and parameter sets for the plant.
- Assist in training staff.
- Monitor work and systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and county codes, regulations, standards, and mandates.
- Create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, testing, and start‑up.
- Program and troubleshoot Allen Bradley control systems hardware and software (Studio 5000, RS Logix 500/5000, Factory Talk View ME/SE).
- Interpret project documentation to develop an understanding of the process control requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering and maintenance on existing machine control modifications to robotic, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and vision systems; retrofit upgrades from SLC‑era control systems for risk reduction.
- Increase uptime, throughput, efficiency, and quality through continual improvement of equipment and technology utilization.
- Perform continuous improvement activities to improve safety, increase productivity, and reduce production cost through development and improvement of electrical control systems, PLC, HMI & robotics programming.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance strategies and identifying areas of improvement within control system infrastructure.
- Participate in design reviews for new machinery to provide input into control system capabilities affecting machine function; work closely with CAD designers/engineers to integrate/package/select appropriate electromechanical presses and servo motors to meet design requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel related to control systems.
- Train employees on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of existing equipment.
- Maintain scheduled plant coverage rotation for remote troubleshooting or on‑site assistance.
- Resolve customer questions and/or concerns without seeking assistance from leadership.
- Assist in identifying and procuring equipment and parts necessary for daily maintenance requirements.
- Proficient troubleshooting in electrical/electronic systems (+/- 10V, 24V, 120V).
- Take responsibility for own equipment and proactive approach.
- Work in a team environment with honest communication, positive attitude, engagement, and personal accountability.
