Our nonprofit partner leads an innovative, short‑term intervention program focused on reconnecting youth in foster care or residential settings with safe, supportive family members, both biological and chosen. Through diligent search practices and meaningful engagement, the program works to ensure every young person has lasting connections to family, culture, and community.

The Family Specialist plays a vital hands‑on role in identifying, engaging, and strengthening family connections for youth involved in the child welfare system. This position partners closely with a program coach to carry out high‑impact family‑finding strategies, uncover potential kinship placements, and develop a clear, actionable “roadmap to family” for each child served.

This is a mission‑driven opportunity for someone who is resourceful, relationship‑oriented, and passionate about creating permanency for youth.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to identify and connect youth with supportive kin.
  • Build trust with youth and actively explore permanency and family connections.
  • Conduct comprehensive family‑finding efforts, including database and internet research, file reviews, and interviews.
  • Gather and synthesize information from relatives and key contacts to expand each child’s support network.
  • Identify and document potential kinship caregivers and supports.
  • Facilitate communication across stakeholders and provide clear, timely documentation, including family maps and contact records.
  • Participate in and support meetings and court proceedings, advocating for kinship placement when appropriate.
  • Complete assessments at intake and program conclusion to evaluate outcomes and progress.
  • Guide families through the licensing preparation process and requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, organized case files and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; social services or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with interdisciplinary teams utilizing innovative strategies to overcome obstacles.
  • Direct experience in the child welfare field with basic knowledge of foster care and adoption preferred.
  • Understanding of, or ability to learn, Genopro (family tree/genogram software program).
  • Ability to use customer service initiatives to work with partner agencies.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Compensation and Benefits

This opportunity offers an annual salary of $50,000 - $53,000 plus a full and robust benefits package including health, dental, vision, disability, retirement plans, and a generous amount of paid time off plus additional floating holidays.
