Position:
Full Time, Night Shift (12 hr)
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides direct patient care within the scope of practice and directs and guides patient/family teaching and nursing activities while maintaining professional nursing standards in Telemetry. The RN is directly responsible and accountable for the care of patients in the Emergency Department and communicates with the physician regarding changes in the patient’s clinical condition, diagnostic results, and symptomatology.
Rapid and accurate response to changes in condition and treatment response is required. Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and the hospital social worker is essential. The RN must maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Current and valid state RN license.
- Valid BLS certificate on hire and maintained.
- Valid ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained.
- Valid PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintained.
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute‑care hospital; ER setting preferred.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- In a Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintained.
- In EDAP certified facilities:
Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire. - In non‑OB facilities: NRP certificate within 90 days of hire and maintained.
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
