Senior Accountant

• Prepare assigned quarterly and annual statutory financial statements and exhibits timely and accurately.
• Assist with month-end close duties, prepare journal entries timely and accurately, research expense variances and communicating findings thoroughly and concisely.
• Consolidate branch results and post any intercompany transactions
• Perform monthly account reconciliations timely and accurately. Ensure account activity and balances align with expected results. Investigate and resolve reconciling items timely.
• Complete and submit other assigned regulatory filings accurately and timely.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to gain understanding of business and data requirements. Evaluate, propose, and help implement solutions that help improve accuracy of general ledger balances and/or transactions.
• Assist with internal and external auditor requests.
• Assist with system upgrades and conversion
• Identify, implement, and document process improvements.
• Complete ad-hoc projects or tasks, as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent.
• To thrive in this role you will have 5+ years of progressive and relevant accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and/or statutory accounting principles
• Experience working in a fast paced and heavy deadline-driven environment, with willingness to work extra hours, as necessary.
• Prior experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle and Hyperion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
• Prior insurance industry experience is required.
• CPA license is a plus
