Assurance Experienced Senior

The Assurance Experienced Senior is responsible for coordinating the day‑to‑day "in‑charge" duties of planning, fieldwork, and wrap‑up. This includes preparing financial statements with disclosures, applying GAAP, documenting, validating, testing, and assessing control systems, acting as the client contact for basic questions, and may be involved in reviews and agreed‑upon procedure engagements.

• Control Environment
  • Apply knowledge of various policies and procedures and mitigate risks.
  • Act as auditor in charge responsible to the engagement manager for day‑to‑day audit conduct.
  • Apply knowledge of transactional flow and key transactional cycles to complete audit work.
  • Document, validate, and assess internal control effectiveness.
  • Determine and communicate improvements to client internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Supervise audit staff, review work papers, and explain shortcomings.
• GAAP
  • Apply governing principles and document application to client transactions.
  • Understand and communicate financial statement disclosure requirements.
  • Identify and apply new pronouncements to client situations.
  • Analyze alternative GAAPs and discuss with leadership when necessary.
  • Identify complex accounting issues and bring them to superiors for resolution.
• SEC and PCAOB
  • Apply SEC regulations and PCAOB guidelines, document and communicate application.
  • Review client SEC filings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare required communications to the client and audit committee.
  • Plan and execute Section 404 internal control audits.
• GAAS
  • Apply professional standards and document their application.
  • Formulate and communicate audit plans.
  • Apply GAAS to complex issues and consult as needed.
  • Exercise audit skepticism and adjust testing scope.
  • Use BDO audit manuals appropriately.
  • Document deviations from BDO policy with approval.
  • Suggest improvements to internal controls and draft required communications.
• Methodology
  • Apply BDO standards guiding effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Use BDO audit approach, tools, and technology to execute audits.
  • Identify and propose outcomes for critical issues.
• Research
  • Seek information from authoritative sources and draw conclusions.
  • Use internal and external research tools for routine requests.
  • Research complex accounting areas and form independent opinions.
  • Document findings in a usable format.
  • Assist engagement manager with sufficient information for audit strategy.
• Project Management
  • Coordinate planning, fieldwork, and review timing.
  • Assist in developing audit engagement budget and resources.
  • Develop draft Audit Engagement Planning Memorandum, audit programs, budgets.
  • Monitor and report engagement budget and advise on overruns.
• Other Duties
  • Supervise a team of 1 to 5 audit professionals.
  • Provide verbal and written performance feedback.
  • Teach/coach associates for on‑the‑job learning.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics (required).
• Or Bachelor’s in another focus area with CPA certification (required).
• Master’s degree in Accountancy (preferred).

• Three (3) or more years of audit experience or comparable public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience (required).
• Prior basic supervisory experience (preferred).

• Eligible to sit for the CPA exams upon starting employment (required).
• Actively pursuing completion of the CPA exams (required).
• CPA certification (preferred).

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (preferred).
• Experience with assurance applications and research tools (preferred).

• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• People development and delegation skills.
• Executive presence; primary client contact.
• Ability to lead all stages of the audit (planning, fieldwork, wrap‑up).
• Ability to perform completions of complex company audits.
• Ability to prepare and/or review financial statements with disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
