We are a well-established interior design studio and luxury home furnishings retailer seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands‑on position responsible for managing accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, account reconciliations, tax filings, and month‑end close activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities- Manage the full accounting cycle and maintain accurate financial records
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare month‑end journal entries and assist with month‑end and year‑end close
- Generate internal financial reports and management reporting
- Monitor and process inventory‑related accounting adjustments
- Assist ownership with financial analysis and special projects
- Process accounts payable using three‑way matching procedures
- Review and approve invoices for proper coding and documentation
- Maintain vendor records and supporting documentation
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve billing discrepancies
- Record daily bank deposits and other cash activity
- Process payroll and sales commission calculations
- Complete workers' compensation reporting
- Prepare and file sales tax returns
- Prepare and file business property tax reports
- Coordinate annual 1099 reporting
- Assist external CPA and tax professionals during year‑end reporting
- 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience with increasing responsibility
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations
- Experience with payroll processing and sales tax reporting
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Quickbooks, Excel and Microsoft Office
- Retail, inventory, furniture, design, construction, or related industry experience is a plus
- High degree of accuracy and accountability
- Strong organizational and follow‑through skills
- Self‑motivated and resourceful
- Professional communication skills
- Team‑oriented with a service mindset
