Job Description & How to Apply Below

Rove is on a mission to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) with a better charging experience. We are expanding our footprint across Southern California and we're seeking a Construction manager to join our team.

Rove Charging is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the development and delivery of EV charging infrastructure projects across the greater Los Angeles and Orange County region. This is a hands‑on, field‑facing role that requires a technically rigorous professional who can manage multiple concurrent construction work streams with precision, clear communication, and strong organizational discipline. The Construction Manager will serve as the primary day‑to‑day interface between Rove's internal team and external contractors, vendors, and equipment providers, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in strict conformance with design intent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for civil and electrical contractors, general contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers on all active construction projects.
  • Coordinate daily field activities across multiple project sites, ensuring work sequencing is logical, dependencies are managed, and resources are deployed efficiently.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and plans to verify that field construction aligns with design intent; flag and elevate discrepancies immediately.
  • Negotiate and evaluate change orders, including scope, cost, and schedule impact analysis; provide recommendations to leadership with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, track contractor progress against baseline timelines, identify variances, and drive corrective action when projects fall behind.
  • Support procurement activities including vendor qualification, scope of work review, and purchase order coordination in collaboration with the broader project team.
  • Generate clear, accurate, and timely construction reports for the executive team, covering project status, budget tracking, schedule performance, open issues and risk items.
  • Participate in design review meetings and constructability assessments to identify potential field conflicts prior to construction.
  • Maintain organized project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, inspection records and close‑out materials.
  • Conduct regular site walks and inspections to monitor quality of work and enforce safety standards.
  • Engage with the City and other AHJ's to ensure regulatory compliance and issuance of permits pertinent at various stages in the project life cycle.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • 5–10 years of progressive professional experience in the construction industry, with demonstrated experience managing contractors in the field, ideally urban infill.
  • Firm understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and construction documentation workflows (RFIs, submittals, change orders).
  • Working knowledge of project scheduling tools and methods; ability to develop, read, and critically assess project schedules.
  • Experience negotiating change orders and managing contractor relationships.
  • Some procurement experience, including coordinating with vendors and equipment suppliers.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously across several active project sites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable preparing executive‑level reports and presenting project status clearly.
  • Detail‑oriented with a disciplined approach to documentation and follow‑through.
Preferred
  • Experience with electrical infrastructure, utility coordination, or EV charging projects.
  • Familiarity with California permitting processes and public utility interconnection procedures.
  • PE, PMP, CCM, or similar professional certification.
  • Experience working with BESS (battery energy storage system) installations or related equipment.
