Location:
Costa Mesa, CA Salary: $115,000 - $150,000 (experience dependent)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Concrete Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for structural, architectural, and decorative concrete construction projects. This role is responsible for analyzing project plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, soliciting vendor and subcontractor pricing, identifying project risks, and developing detailed cost estimates that support successful project pursuits.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial concrete construction and is comfortable estimating a wide variety of scopes, including structural concrete, cast-in-place systems, site concrete, hardscape, decorative concrete, and specialty architectural finishes. This individual will play a critical role in helping secure new business opportunities while ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.

The company is known for its craftsmanship, attention to detail, innovation, and successful execution of landmark commercial, institutional, public, and mixed-use projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial concrete construction projects
- Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents to determine project scope
- Perform quantity takeoffs for structural concrete, site concrete, hardscape, decorative concrete, and related scopes
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
- Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and production cost estimates
- Analyze project risks, logistics, scheduling requirements, and constructability considerations
- Coordinate with project management and operations teams during bid preparation
- Prepare bid packages, proposals, budgets, and scope reviews
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving recommendations
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and bid records
- Work closely with clients, contractors, architects, and consultants throughout the bidding process
- Support project handoff meetings following contract award
- Track market pricing trends and industry developments affecting project costs
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in concrete construction
- Experience estimating commercial concrete projects from concept through final bid submission
- Strong knowledge of structural concrete, cast-in-place concrete, site concrete, and architectural concrete applications
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing
- Proven ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred
- Experience estimating architectural concrete, decorative concrete, hardscape, and specialty concrete projects
- Familiarity with public works, healthcare, higher education, mixed-use, and commercial projects
- Experience with Bluebeam, OST, Plan Swift, Sage Estimating, or similar estimating software
- Knowledge of Southern California construction markets and subcontractor networks
- Experience with value engineering and conceptual estimating
- Previous field experience in concrete construction
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
