Summary
A well-established mechanical and plumbing contractor is seeking a Project Manager to oversee commercial HVAC and plumbing construction projects throughout Southern California. This role is responsible for managing projects from preconstruction and planning through installation, commissioning, and closeout.
This is a strong fit for someone with project management experience specifically within mechanical construction who understands the coordination, financial, and operational side of large commercial HVAC and plumbing projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage commercial HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction projects from startup through closeout
- Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and overall financial performance
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and project documentation
- Coordinate equipment and material procurement, including long-lead items
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and procurement timelines
- Work closely with superintendents, foremen, field teams, and project engineers
- Coordinate with general contractors, owners, engineers, vendors, and other trades
- Partner with BIM/VDC teams on mechanical coordination and constructability
- Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and project requirements
- Manage subcontractors and vendors throughout project execution
- Identify project risks, scope changes, and cost impacts
- Participate in project meetings and maintain strong client relationships
- Support commissioning, punch list, turnover, and project closeout
- 5+ years of project management experience within commercial construction
- Direct experience with a mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or piping contractor strongly preferred
- Experience managing project budgets, change orders, RFIs, submittals, procurement, and schedules
- Ability to read and understand mechanical plans, specifications, and coordinated drawings
- Experience working directly with field leadership, general contractors, and project stakeholders
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
