Job Summary:

The Levy Group is looking for a Designer for our Volcom Women’s & Kids Snow Division. The ideal candidate has outstanding aesthetic and understanding of the women’s & kids snowboard lifestyle and its consumer. The designer will be responsible for researching, designing, and prototyping products that provide an elevated experience in the mountains. This person needs to be a natural diplomat that can take design direction, as well as absorb all global feedback and infuse their take directly back into the line.

The designer should have a deep knowledge and love of the snowboard lifestyle.

Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize product offering using provided design direction
• Expert in outerwear-specific fabric, trim and raw material selection
• Keen eye for snow-specific design and functional necessities
• CAD generation and initial style information detail
• Research and provide information related to global market analysis, trends, and competitive landscape
• Understand & participate in the merchandising of each category
• Willing to travel inclusive of market research, vendor communications, sales meetings and select trade shows
• Generation & maintenance of techpacks specific to design responsibilities
• Own the fabric design & all component approvals
• Present concepts and finalized lines to internal and external stakeholders
• Assist in the curation and build of outward facing sales and marketing material
• Understand and execute the functional outerwear properties
• Maintain quality standards in compliance with Company practice
• Continuously innovating with new design ideas (aesthetic and/or technical)
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• At least 5+ years’ experience in outerwear design
• A Merchandising, Design, Graphic Arts degree or Bachelor’s degree is preferable and appreciated
• Must be able to lead presentations with strong verbal and visual execution
• Detail-oriented, punctual, reliable and professional
• Read and interpret documents such as department memos, rep-reports, and visual line plans
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
• Expert in all following software programs (Mac OSX, Illustrator 10, CS, CS2, Photoshop)
• Intermediate in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as PLM systems
• This is a position which requires full time hours to be worked out of the Costa Mesa, CA location.
