Position Summary
Coast Community College District, comprising Coastline Community College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College, is hiring part‑time/temporary faculty to teach adult students in transfer, general education, and occupational/technical programs. Positions are located in Orange County and require candidates to live within commuting distance.
Responsibilities- Provide quality instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines.
- Create and maintain learning environments that emphasize discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethics and keep current knowledge in subject‑matter areas.
- Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
- Teach all scheduled classes, which may include day, evening, weekend, online, or off‑campus courses.
- Maintain accurate records and conduct grading and assessment as required.
- Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject, issued prior to July 1, 1990, or a qualifying combination of education and experience equivalent to the related statutory qualifications.
- For counseling or special education roles, a master’s degree in the relevant field and specific coursework or experience meeting California Community College MQ Handbook requirements.
- For adapted physical education or speech and language disability instruction, a minimum of fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in the applicable field.
- Combination of education and experience that meets or exceeds the statutory minimum qualifications as outlined in the California Community College MQ Handbook.
- Recent experience teaching or counseling at a community college or lower‑division institution.
- Expertise and professional experience in the course(s) to be taught.
- Part‑time, temporary basis with hours arranged by supervisor.
- Eligibility to work in the United States and verification of employment history.
- Continuous recruitment with a hiring pool for as‑needed assignments; applications remain in pool for one year.
Based on Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) in accordance with the current Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule.
Physical Demands- Perform essential functions of teaching and classroom management.
- Work environment may include long periods of standing, sitting, and moving around a classroom or lecture hall.
