Job Title:
Coach, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country
- Lead all phases of coaching intercollegiate Men’s & Women’s Cross Country at the community college level, including recruitment, practice, competition, and enforcement of team and college policies.
- Recruiting, budget development, management, academic and social media supervision of student‑athletes, public relations, and fundraising.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Athletic Director pursuant to the 3C2A, Orange Empire Conference, and Orange Coast College regulations.
- Drive college or leased vehicles to and from scheduled contests when required.
- Communicate promptly with the Sports Information Director and coordinate with Sports Medicine for incident and injury reporting.
- Prepare a season summary and advocate for student honors within conference, region, and other athletic governing bodies.
- Provide support and encouragement to ensure the safety and well‑being of student‑athletes, maintain professional relationships with athletes, staff, administrators, alumni, and the public, and develop community support and fundraising initiatives.
- Execute other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Must satisfy one of the following: (a) a valid California Community College instructor credential issued prior to July 1, 1990; (b) a bachelor’s degree or higher with 2 years of professional experience directly related to the assignment; (c) an associate degree with 6 years of related experience; or (d) a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage a diverse classroom environment and to provide instruction to community college students of various academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
Part‑time, temporary basis contingent upon verification of employment history, background checks, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees.
- Regular attendance is essential; failure to meet attendance requirements may affect continued employment.
- Position requires compliance with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and Title IX policies.
