Basic FunctionUnder the direction of the Principal, provide instructional support and intensive behavioral instructional assistance to identified special education students who have autism or a related disorder and have been assigned to a designated mild, moderate, moderate‑severe, or Early Childhood special education instructional program. Administer procedures used in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to identified students, assist in the collection of data and monitoring and charting student behavior, and perform a variety of clerical support duties related to behavior management and classroom activities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide intensive behavioral instructional assistance to designated students in a variety of educational settings, including classroom, home, and community settings.
- Administer ABA procedures and follow documented therapy plans for intensive behavioral treatment.
- Collect, monitor, and chart student behavior; record observations on daily, weekly, and monthly behavior logs while maintaining confidentiality of student records.
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and the achievement of IEP goals, working with teachers, instructional personnel, and the behavioral intervention team.
- Provide one‑on‑one assistance with students exhibiting aggressive behaviors and facilitate social‑skills activities.
- Assist staff, parents, and identified students with behavioral management, toilet training, feeding, personal hygiene, and adaptive functioning.
- Perform clerical support duties related to behavior management and classroom activities.
- Support teacher absences by supervising students both inside and outside the classroom and during community activities.
- Operate classroom and office equipment (copy, laminator, smart board, tokens, timers, calculator, computer, and assigned software).
- Travel between sites as required and participate in district‑provided in‑services and special training related to ABA.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff, students, and parents.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or equivalent training program.
- At least two (2) years of experience working with children in a specialized learning environment.
- Knowledge of ABA principles, reinforcement hierarchy development, and crisis prevention intervention (CPI).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in basic classroom data collection, record‑keeping, and use of office equipment.
The examination process includes a written examination (50%) and a qualifications appraisal interview (50%). Successful candidates will be entered onto an eligibility list for substitute and regular assignments.
Applicants must be able to travel between schools, work 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, during the school session, and meet all basic job qualifications.
